Phonics tests are available in a number of formats and can be delivered in a variety of classroom environments :
- One approach would be observation whilst using a phonics game such as the ones made by the BBC, this would help keep younger children interested and amused whist they were being assessed.
- A phonics worksheet is great for a group test situation although care must be taken to ensure the phonetic sounds are pronounced correctly whist ensuring a test environment exists.
- An online phonics test is an excellent testing strategy if sufficient resources are available.
- One to one assessment is a common practice, often carried out by a literacy specialist.
